Silver Clay; What's this?

Silver clay is a combination of water, organic binders, and small particles of silver. It is molded by hand into a desired shape then heated in a kiln orby a butane torch to remove the organic binder and fuse the metal into a solid form. Precious metal clay and Art Clay are two different brands of clay-like materials that shape easily, and then amazingly fire into a pure metal object!
People looking for their first experience with silver clay usually take introductory classes. These classes can vary widely in subject matter. In the beginner class you will learn all the basic information need to complete a pendant or earrings. You will be working with a butane torch. Most pieces are completed In the 1 class. In the free form class you will learn how to use a syringe to wrap a dichroic glass cabochon with clay. This is a two part class since your pendant must be fired in a kiln.
Typical class projects include basic pendants, earrings, etc. These basic classes are a great way to experiment, while having an instructor nearby for any aid that may be needed.
